MASS COMMUNICATION COURSES IN MANUU
The University created the School of Mass Communication and Journalism in the year 1999toestablish standards for educational programmes in the area of Mass Communication and Journalism. The Objective of the School is to train Quality Professionals in the field of Mass CommunicationandJournalism based on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s legacy for ethos and richly laced journalisticexpression. The programme provides professional training in the ever-expanding field of MediainUrdu medium. The main aim of the Programme is to produce professionals who are well trainedandwell equipped to cope up with emerging challenges in the field of Print and Electronic Media. The School currently has one department: The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism.
The Department was established in 2004 with introduction of M.A. degree programme in Journalism and Mass Communication. The department has experienced faculty members with wide rangeof interest and experience in the media. The Department is supported by labs with State of theArt equipment for Print, Radio, Television, Video Production and Graphical Animation. The Department also offers Ph.D. programme in JMC. The admission for Ph.D. is through entrancetest. The thrust area of the research is the portrayal of minorities, marginalized Indian communities, representation of the under-privileged in the field of media, and other areas that have remainedunder explored by academic research institutions. From academic year 2018, Department has introducedunder graduate programme B.A. (JMC) with an intake of 30 students.

M.A. ( Mass Communication and Journalism) 30 Hyderabad i. Urdu as a subject/language or as a Medium in 10 th /12 th /Graduationlevel or equivalent Madrasa courses with Urdu as mediumof Instructionapproved by MANUU. ii. 45% in aggregate in Bachelor’s Degree/equivalent degree. Ph.D. (JMC) Hyderabad 3 (UR-1 OBC-1 EWS-1) i. Urdu as a subject/language or as a Medium in 10 th /12 th /Graduationlevel or equivalent Madrasa courses with Urdu as mediumof Instructionapproved by MANUU. ii. 55% marks in aggregate in Post-Graduation in JMC and eligibilitycriteria prescribed in general guidelines.
